Today was a rainy day in Toronto, which always makes me feel slightly romantic.  After spending my weekend with Nora Ephron (watching When Harry Met Sally and reading her last book, I Remember Nothing), I was in a rom-com state.  So, I thought I would put together a few things that were floating through my head and on my computer today!

Firstly, I have been feeling so surrounded in books lately.  So I searched “buried in books” in Google today and fell in love with this picture of Gwyneth Paltrow!

Diana Krall is one of my guilty pleasures.  Whenever I need to unwind, her voice mellows me out like nobodies business.  I absolutely adore this cover of Joni Mitchell’s “Case of You”.

Fall is coming!  Every few mornings, I feel a chill in the air and get extremely excited.  I love fall and winter and all the little wonders that come along with them ..like back-to-school.  Though I may not be going back to school, I still do the shopping.  September and October is fall fashion time and I always treat myself to a new cozy sweater, or new boots, or a new bag; just something small and new.  And then there are the pencils.  My friend, Lindsey and I were discussing back-to-school last week and she said that she still gets excited about newly sharpened pencils.  Which, of course, made me think of You’ve Got Mail (who doesn’t love that movie?!).  So, without further ado…

“Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly-sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. On the other hand, this not knowing has its charms.”

Now, since I spent yesterday watching When Harry Met Sally, I have to include this song.  Come on, it’s addictive!

And who can forget this memorable part:

“I love that you get cold when it’s 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you’re looking at me like I’m nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it’s not because I’m lonely, and it’s not because it’s New Year’s Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”
- Harry Burns

And that (combined with work), was my day today!  Are you planning to go back-to-fall shopping?  Watched any Nora Ephron lately? Listened to any oldies, jazz or blues?  Oh, and of course, read any good books?
