Since I’ve been gone for far too long, I thought I’d give you guys a quick update on my literary life.

Over the past few weeks, I have fallen head-over-heels in love with comic books. It’s not the first time I’ve meandered into the graphic novel genre, but it’s the first time I’ve spent the majority of my spending cash on piles of graphic novels, and hunkering down for hours on end to read them. But, as some of you may know, I read quite a bit on my commute to and from work, and holding up a large graphic novel while being squeezed into a subway car like a sardine, is difficult. So I tend to save my comic book adventures for my couch.

In between the devouring of the Locke and Key series by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez and the Saga series by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples, I have been trying to read a multitude of things, but with no luck. I’ve been flitting back and forth between Vicious by Victoria Schwab and How to Fall in Love by Cecelia Ahern, without getting sucked into either. I refuse to give up, as I asked a friend and coworker for Vicious, and want to finish it for that reason, and that reason alone. And Cecelia, well, if you know me, you know that her and I have an up and down relationship. This new book is, sadly, a down.

On the side, I have been tempted to start a number of different books, but keep telling myself to refrain. Today, in honour of the winter season, I finally bought myself Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle. I remember almost buying it last year but then deciding not to for who knows why. This year, I could use a little light and fluffy (no pun intended) romance. I bought the book on my lunch and proceeded to sneak about 10 pages in between passers-by at my cubicle. I have a feeling I’m going to like this one!

Other than that, not much has changed for me. I am aiming to break my Curse of Four this month! I have determined that this Curse of Four afflicts me monthly.  The curse claims that I will only finish four books in a month. Somehow, four has always been my magic number and one I am very excited to break. I want to read 5, or even *gasp* SIX! This month, I feel like I’m cheating a bit because I’ve been overdosing on comics, but my goal of more than four novels persists! Seeing as it is almost 2/3 of the way through November and I’ve only finished one book thus far (and three graphic novels), I may not reach my goal just yet. But soon!

What are you guys all reading these days? Do you have any numbered curses? Let me know!
