Happy New Year Everyone! :)

I hope you all had a fabulous New Years Eve and that you are all getting a wonderful start to the year!  I spent my New Years Day being a total lazy bum, followed by getting the news that my flight home was cancelled, followed by hanging out at the airport this morning.  But now, I am home and ready to rumble!

Yesterday, I was perusing BookTube (as I tend to do) and found some great videos of some great people (Connor at Connor O’Brien and Regan at PeruseProject) who have committed to begin working their way through NPR’s Top 100 Science Fiction & Fantasy List this year.  The list is huge (obviously) but has some amazing titles on there.  I scanned it, not expecting to know many of the books, but found that not only do I KNOW them.. I OWN a ton of them!  Of the 100 books, I own 20, and have only read 2.  That is SAD!  So this year, I am committing to reading at least 5 of these books.  Since my goal is to read 23 books off my shelf this year, I can definitely make 5 of them some good ol’ scifi fantasy!

Of the 20 books I own, I have read I Am Legend by Richard Matheson and Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, but here are the 18 books I own and will choose from this year :).

Care to join as we chip at this list?!

  1. Oooo love! I need to take a look at NPR’s list, but I can tell you that Wicked, Ender’s Game, The Left Hand of Darkness, 1984, and The Princess Bride are all super awesome. Good luck!!

  2. Gosh I’ve only read 11 on that list! The Road is so, so good. Very dreary but, so good. 1984 and Animal Farm are a few of my classic favorites. Still need to get around to reading Brave New World, Stardust, American Gods and Frankenstein too. Will have to pick a few to read off this list too!

    • I’ve actually read half of The Road and really enjoyed it. But it was a friends, and I had to give the copy back. I bought my own since then, but never went back. I’ll have to start again! 11 off the list is pretty impressive !! :)
